It seems generally valid to update things to account for new ways of listening to music, or to improve things with technology that didn't exist in the past. It's how people heard it originally and if you fell in love with the sound of a particular record then there is nothing worse than changing that IMHO. The best ones by far were done by a Japanese company, the worst ones were just done from the master tapes from the vinyl mastering sessions that have simply been copied over with some minor eq changes. I also have a lot of CDs from Simeon and Garfunkel (one of my favorite artist) that have been remastered over the years. I have noticed that a lot of tracks from "HD tracks" Hdtracks - UK Home page | HDtracks - The World's Greatest-Sounding Music Downloads don't sound as good as the originals even though they are suppose to be remastered and have very high sample and bit rates.
